Evening
“Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day”(Psalm 25:5).
The believer begins with trembling feet to walk in the way of the Lord. He asks to be led onward like a little child upheld by his parent's helping hand. He craves to be further instructed in the alphabet of truth. The burden of the prayer in tonight's text is the instruction of the saints in the things of God. David knew much, but he realized his ignorance. He still desired to be in the Lord's school. Four times in two verses, he applies for a scholarship in the college of grace. Many believers, instead of following their own devices and cutting out new paths of thought for themselves, should inquire for the good ways of God's truth. They need to beseech the Holy Spirit to give them sanctified understandings and teachable spirits. “For thou art the God of my salvation.” Jehovah is the Author and Perfecter of salvation to His people. Is He the God of your salvation? Do you find in the Father's mercy, in the Son's atonement, and in the Spirit's quickening, all the grounds of your eternal hopes? If the Lord has chosen to save you, surely He will not refuse to instruct you in His ways. We can address the Lord with the confidence which David manifests here. It gives us great power in prayer and comfort in trial. “On thee do I wait all the day.” Patience is the fair daughter of faith. We cheerfully wait when we are certain that we shall not wait in vain. It is our duty and our privilege to wait upon the Lord in service, in worship, in expectancy, and in trust, all the days of our life. If our faith is true, it will bear continued trial without yielding. We will not grow weary of waiting upon God if we remember how long and how graciously He once waited for us.

처음 믿는 사람은 떨리는 발로 주님의 길을 걷기 시작합니다. 그는 그의 부모의 돕는 손에 붙잡힌 아이처럼 인도받기 위하여 묻습니다. 그는 진리의 알파벳(기초)을 더 깊이 배우기를 갈망합니다. 오늘 밤의 주제(시 25:5)에서의 기도의 짐(목적)은 하나님의 일을 하는 성도들이 알아야 할 교훈(말씀)입니다.
다윗은 많은 것을 알았습니다. 그러나 그는 그의 무지(無知)를 실감했습니다. 그래서 그는 여전히 주님의 학교에 있기를 희망했습니다(즉, 주님의 말씀을 계속 배우기를 소원했습니다).

여호와는 그의 백성들에게 구원의 주요, 온전케 하시는 이십니다. 그분이 그대의 구원의 하나님이십니까? 그대는 성부의 긍휼에서, 성자의 속죄에서, 성령의 활력(생명력)에서, 그대의 영원한 소망의 모든 근거를 발견하고 있습니까?
주께서 그대를 구원하시기 위하여 택하셨다면, 그분은 확실히 그의 진리의 길에 그대를 인도하시는 것을 거절하시지 않을 것입니다.
우리도 다윗이 여기서 표명하고 있는 확신으로 주님께 탄원할 수 있습니다. 이것은 우리에게 기도에는 능력을 주고, 시련에서는 큰 위로를 줍니다.
"내가 종일 주를 바라나이다."(시 25:5)
인내는 아름다운 믿음의 딸입니다. 우리가 헛되이 기다리지 않을 것이라는 것을 확신할 때 우리는 기쁜 마음으로 기다립니다.
우리의 인생의 모든 날 동안, 봉사에서, 예배에서, 기대에서, 믿음에서 주님을 섬기는 것이 우리의 의무이고 특권입니다. 만일 우리의 믿음이 진실하다면, 보수없이 계속되는 시련도 견딜 것입니다. 만일 우리가 주님께서 이전에 얼마나 오랫동안, 그리고 얼마나 자비롭게 우리를 기다리셨던가를 기억한다면 우리는 하나님을 섬기는 일에 피곤해지지 않을 것입니다.
