Evening
“Satan hindered us”(1 Thessalonians 2:18).
Since the first hour that goodness came into conflict with evil, Satan continually works to hinder us in our spiritual experience. From all directions, all along the line of battle, in the vanguard and in the rear, at the dawn of day and in the midnight hour, Satan hinders us. If we toil in the field, he seeks to break the plow; if we build the wall, he tries to cast down the stones; if we serve God in suffering or in conflict, everywhere Satan hinders us. He hinders us when we are first coming to Jesus Christ. We had fierce conflicts with Satan when we first looked to the cross and lived. Now that we are saved, he attempts to hinder the completeness of our personal character. You may be congratulating yourself, “I have walked consistently; no man can challenge my integrity.” Beware of boasting, for your virtue will yet be tried. If you have been a firm believer, your faith will be attacked; if you have been as meek as Moses, expect to be tempted to speak foolishly with your lips. Satan is sure to hinder us when we are earnest in prayer. He discourages our intercession and weakens our faith in order that, if possible, we may miss the blessing. Satan is no less vigilant in obstruction Christian effort. There was never a spiritual revival without a revival of his opposition. As soon as Ezra and Nehemiah begin to labor, Sanballat and Tobiah were stirred up to hinder them (See Nehemiah 2:19). We should not be alarmed when Satan hinders us, for that proves that we are on the Lord's work. In His strength, we will win the victory and triumph over our adversary.

선(善)이 악(惡)과의 싸움에 들어간 첫 시간부터 사단은 끊임없이 우리를 훼방하고 있다는 것이 우리의 영적 경험입니다. 전방위에서, 모든 전선에 걸쳐서, 전위(전방)에서 그리고 후위(후방)에서, 새벽에도 한밤중 시간에도 사단은 우리를 훼방합니다.
우리가 밭에서 일한다면, 사단은 쟁기를 부수려고 합니다. 우리가 돌로 담을 쌓는다면 돌들을 쓰러뜨리려고 힘 쓸 것입니다. 만일 우리가 고통이나 갈등속에서 하나님을 섬긴다면, 사단은 도처에서 우리를 훼방할 것입니다. 우리가 처음 십자가를 바라보고 살았을 때 우리는 사단과 치열한 싸움을 했었습니다. 우리는 구원되었으므로, 사단은 우리의 개인적인 신앙인격의 완전성을 방해하려고 합니다(즉, 온전한 신앙생활을 못하도록 방해합니다).
그대는 "나는 견실하게 이 길을 걸어왔다. 아무도 나의 성실한 신앙을 도전할 수 없다."라고 자축(自祝)의 말을 할지도 모릅니다. 자랑하는 것을 주의하십시오.
왜냐하면 그대의 장점(덕)도 틀림없이 시험을 당할 것이기 때문입니다. 만일 그대가 지금까지 굳건한 신자였다면, 그대의 믿음도 조만간 공격당할 것입니다. 만일 그대가 이제껏 모세와 같이 온유하게 살아왔다면, 그대의 입술로 어리석게 말하도록 유혹받을 것을 예상하십시오.
사단은 우리가 기도에 열중할 때에도 우리를 반드시 방해합니다. 사단은 가능한 한 우리가 축복을 잃도록 하기 위하여 우리의 중보기도(도고)를 좌절시키고 우리의 믿음을 약화시킵니다. 사단은 그리스도인의 노력을 방해함에 있어서 똑같이 경계를 늦추지 않고 있습니다(즉, 그리스도인의 노력이 크면 클수록 사단의 반격의 노력도 그만큼 커집니다).
기독교의 영적 부흥이 있는 곳에는 반드시 사단의 반대의 부흥이 있었습니다.
에스라와 느헤미야가 건축을 시작했을 때 산발랏과 도비야가 그들을 훼방하도록 사단에 의하여 선동되었습니다(참고. 느 2:19).
사단이 우리를 훼방할 때 우리는 놀라지 말아야 합니다. 왜냐하면 그것은 우리가 주님편에서 주님의 일을 하고 있음을 보여주는 증거이기 때문입니다.
주님의 능력 안에서, 우리는 승리를 얻을 것입니다. 그리고 우리의 원수를 이기고 개가를 올릴 것입니다.
