Evening
"I acknowledged my sin unto thee, and mine iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the Lord; and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin"(Psalm 32:5).
David's grief for sin was bitter. He could find no remedy until he made a full confession before the throne of heavenly grace. He tells us that for a time he kept silent and his heart became more filled with grief. Like a mountain stream whose outlet is blocked up, his soul was swollen with torrents of sorrow. He made excuses, he tried to divert his thoughts, but it was all in vain. His anguish gathered, and since he would not use the release of confession, his spirit was full of torment and knew no rest. At last David realized that he must return to God in humble penitence or die outright. He hastened to the mercy seat and confessed his iniquities before the all-seeing One. Having done this, a work so simple and yet so difficult to pried, he immediately received divine forgiveness. The bones which had been broken began to rejoice. He came forth to sing of the blessedness of the man whose transgression is forgiven. See the value of a heartfelt confession of sin! It should be highly prized. In every case where there is a genuine, gracious confession, mercy is freely given, not because the repentance and confession deserve mercy, but for Christ's sake. There is always healing for the broken heart. The fountain is ever flowing to cleanse us from our sins. Truly, O Lord, You are a God "ready to forgive"(Psalm 86:5). Therefore, we will acknowledge our iniquities.

○ 요절: "내가 이르기를 내 허물을 여호와께 자복하리라 하고 주께 내 죄를 아뢰고 내 죄악을 숨기지 아니하였더니 곧 주께서 내 죄의 악을 사하셨나이다.(시 32:5)
죄로 인한 다윗의 슬픔은 통렬했습니다. 그는 하늘의 은혜의 보좌 앞에서 충분한 죄의 고백을 하기까지 어떤 구제책도 발견할 수 없었습니다. 그는 한동안 침묵을 지켰으나 그의 마음은 더욱 슬픔으로 넘치게 되었다고 우리에게 말합니다.
그의 영혼은 출구가 막힌 어떤 산 속의 개울같이 슬픔의 급류(急流)로 넘쳤습니다. 그는 핑계를 대고, 그의 생각을 바꾸려고 노력했으나 모두 허사였습니다. 그의 고통은 쌓여 갔습니다. 그리고 그는 고백(confession)이라는 구제의 방법을 사용하지 않으려고 했기 때문에 고통이 넘쳤고 안식을 알지 못했습니다.
드디어 다윗은 겸손한 회개로 하나님께 돌아가야 하거나 그렇지 않으면 당장 죽어야 할 것이라는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그래서 그는 서둘러 속죄소로 가서 모든 것을 감찰하시는 하나님 앞에 그의 죄를 고백했습니다. 매우 단순하지만 자랑하기엔 너무 어려운(왜냐하면 자기의 죄의 부끄러움과 자기의 공로가 전혀 없기 때문일 것입니다.) 이 일을 마친 후 그는 즉시 하나님의 용서를 받았습니다.
그때 쇠하였던 뼈들은 회복되기 시작했습니다. 그는 그의 죄를 사함받는 사람의 행복을 노래했습니다. 진심에서 우러난 죄의 고백의 가치를 보십시오! 그것은 참으로 높이 평가되어야 합니다. 진실하고 공손한 고백이 있는 모든 경우에, 회개와 고백이 긍휼(은혜)을 받을만하기 때문이 아니라 그리스도의 공로 때문에 긍휼이 값없이 주어집니다.
항상(언제나) 상한 마음을 고치시는 치료가 있습니다. 그 샘은 우리의 죄를 깨끗하게 하기 위하여 언제나 넘쳐 흐르고 있습니다.
오 주여, 진실로 주님은 사유하시기를 즐기시는 하나님이십니다(시 86:5). 그러므로 우리는 우리의 죄를 자복하겠나이다.
