Evening
"Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty"(Isaiah 33:17).
The more you know about Christ, the less will you be satisfied with superficial views of Him. The more deeply you study His work in the eternal covenant, His operation on your behalf as the eternal Surety, and the fullness of His grace which shines in all His offices, the more truly will you see the King in His beauty. Let your greatest desire be to see Jesus. Meditation and contemplation are often like windows of agate and gates of carbuncle, through which we behold the Redeemer. Meditation puts the telescope to the eye and enables us to see Jesus in a better way than we could have seen Him if we had lived in the days of His flesh. With more meditation, the beauty of the King would flash upon us with more resplendence. Beloved, we probably will have such a sight of our glorious King after we die. Many saints who were near death looked up from the stormy waters and saw Jesus walking on the waves of the sea. They heard Him say, "It is I, be not afraid." When the house begins to shake, and the clay falls away, we see Christ through the beams, and the sunlight of heaven comes streaming in. But if we want to see the King in His beauty face to face, we must go to heaven for the sight, or the King must come here in person. Oh, that He would come on the wings of the wind! He is our Husband, and we are widowed by His absence; He is our Brother dear and fair, and we are lonely without Him. Thick veils and clouds hang between our souls and their true life. When will the day break and the shadows flee away?

그대가 그리스도에 관하여 더 알면 알수록, 그대는 그분에 대한 피상적인 견해들에 대한 만족이 더욱 더 적어질 것입니다(즉 그리스도에 대한 피상적인 견해들에 대하여 불만이 커집니다).
영원한 언약 속에 있는 주님의 소업(所業)과 그대를 위한 보증인으로서의 그분의 활동과 그분의 모든 직분에서 빛나고 있는 그분의 은혜의 충만을 더 깊이 연구하면 연구할수록 그대는 그왕의 아름다움을 더욱 더 진실하게 볼 것입니다.
그대의 최대의 소망이 예수님을 보는 것이 되게 하십시오(즉 예수님을 보는 것이 그대의 최대의 소망이 되게 하십시오). 묵상과 숙고는 종종 우리가 그것들을 통하여 구속 주를 볼 수 있는 마노로 만든 창들과 홍옥으로 만든 문들과 같습니다.
묵상은 우리의 눈에 망원경을 두어서, 만일 우리가 주님이 육신으로 계셨던 날에 살았다면 우리가 그분을 볼 수 있었던 것보다 더 좋은 방법으로 우리로 하여금 예수님을 보게 할 수 있습니다.
묵상을 더 많이 할수록 영광은 광채를 더욱 더 우리 위에 비출 것입니다. 사랑하는 자여, 우리는 아마 우리가 죽은 다음에 우리의 영광스러운 왕의 놀라운 광경(모습)을 볼 것입니다.
죽음에 임박한 많은 성도들이 폭풍이 부는 바다에서 위를 쳐다보았고, 예수께서 바다의 파도 위를 걸어오시는 것을 보았습니다. 그리고 그들은 주님께서 "내니 두려워 말라" 라고 말씀하시는 것을 들었습니다. 집이 흔들리기 시작할 때 그리고 흙벽이 무너져 내릴 때, 우리는 기둥들 사이를 통하여 그리스도를 봅니다. 그리고 그 사이로 하늘나라의 햇빛이 강물처럼 쏟아져 들어옵니다.
그러나 만일 우리가 그 아름다운 왕을 대면하여 보기를 원한다면 우리는 그 광경을 보기 위하여 하늘로 가야 하거나, 왕께서 친히 여기에 오셔야 합니다.
오, 주님께서 바람의 날개를 타고 오시기를! 그분은 우리의 남편입니다. 그러므로 그분이 없으면 우리는 과부가 됩니다. 그분은 소중하고 아름다운(흠없는) 우리의 형제입니다. 그러므로 그분이 없으면 우리는 고독합니다. 우리의 영혼들과 그들의 참된 생명 사이에는 두꺼운 휘장과 구름들이 걸려 있습니다.
언제 날이 밝아져서 그 그림자가 사라질까요?
