Evening
"I will make thy windows of agates"(Isaiah 54:12).
The Church is symbolized by a building constructed by heavenly power and designed by divine skill. There must, therefore, be windows to let the light in and to allow the inhabitants to gaze outside. These windows are precious as agates. The ways in which the Church beholds her Lord, heaven, and spiritual truth in general should be held in highest esteem. Faith is often so misty and clouded that we see only darkly and mistake much of what we do see. Yet, if we cannot gaze through windows of crystal and know Christ even as we are known by Him, it is a glorious thing to behold the lovely One through glass as hazy as the agate. Experience is another of these dim but precious windows, yielding a subdued religious light, in which we see the sufferings of the Man of Sorrows through our own afflictions. Our weak eyes could not bear windows of transparent glass to let in the Master's glory. But when they are dimmed with weeping, the beams of the Sun of Righteousness shine through the windows of agate with a soft radiance that is inexpressibly soothing to tempted souls. Sanctification, as it conforms us to our Lord, is another agate window. Only as we become heavenly can we comprehend heavenly things. The pure in heart see a pure God. Those who are like Jesus see Him as He is.

교회는 천국의 능력으로 세워지고 하나님의 기술(솜씨)로 설계된 건물로 상징되고 있습니다. 그러므로 그곳에는 빛이 들어가게 하고 그 거주자들이 밖을 내다볼 수 있게 하는 창문이 반드시 있어야 합니다.
이 창문들은 홍보석(마노)만큼 보배롭습니다. 교회가 그의 주님, 천국, 그리고 일반적으로 영적 진리를 보는 방법은 가장 높이 존중되어야 합니다.
믿음(faith)은 이 고귀한 홍보석 창문(성문)들 중의 하나입니다. 그러나 믿음은 자주 희미해지고 흐려지기 때문에 우리는 어둡게 볼 뿐이고, 우리가 본 것의 대부분을 오해합니다(왜냐하면 믿음이라는 창이 흐려지기 때문입니다). 그러나 우리가 맑은 수정 창문을 통하여 볼 수 없고, 우리가 바로 그리스도에 의하여 알려진 것만큼 그리스도를 알 수 없을지라도, 홍보석 같이 어렴풋이 보이는 유리를 통해서라도 사랑하는 분(주님)을 보는 것은 참으로 영광스러운 일입니다.
또한 경험(experience)도 흐리지만 귀중한 이 창문들 중의 하나입니다. 즉, 경험이라는 창문은 우리가 우리 자신의 고통을 통하여 슬픔의 사람(Man of Sorrows, 예수 그리스도)의 고통을 보게 하는 약화된(부드럽게 된) 빛(주1)을 주는 창문입니다.
우리의 연약한 눈은 투명한 유리 창문이 우리 주님의 영광을 들여보내는 것을 감당할 수 없습니다. 그러나 우리의 두 눈이 눈물로 흐려질 때 의(義)의 태양(예수 그리스도)의 광선들은 시험속에 있는 영혼들에게 표현할 수 없는 위로를 주는 부드러운 광채를 그 홍보석의 창문들을 통하여 비추어 줍니다.
성화(Sanctification)도, 그것이 우리를 주님께 따르게 할 때, 또 다른 홍보석 창문(성첩)입니다. 오직 우리가 하늘(천국)같이 될 때에만 하늘의(천국의) 일을 이해할 수 있습니다(즉 거룩해 질 때, 거룩한 일을 이해할 수 있습니다).
청결한 마음이 청결하신 하나님을 봅니다(주1). 예수님을 닮은 사람들이 예수님의 참모습을 봅니다(즉 그분이 계신 그대로의 모습을 볼 수 있습니다).
