Evening
“There brake he the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle”(Psalm 76:3).
Our Redeemer's glorious cry of “It is finished”was the death knell of all the adversaries of His people. It signified the breaking of “the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle.” The hero of Golgotha used His cross as an anvil and His woes as a hammer. He destroyed bundle after bundle of our sins, those poisoned“arrows of the bow.”He trampled upon every indictment against us and destroyed every accusation. The diabolical darts were reduced to fragments, and the infernal bucklers were broken like potters' vessels! Jesus drew the dread sword of Satanic power from its sheath of hellish workmanship and snapped it across His knee, as a man breaks dry wood. The punishment of our sin was borne by Christ. A full atonement was made for all our iniquities by our blessed Substitute. Who can accuse us? Who can condemn us? “It is Christ that died. yea rather, that is risen again”(Romans 8:34). Jesus emptied the quivers of hell, quenched every fiery dart, and broke off the head of every arrow of wrath. The ground is strewn with the splinters of the weapons of hell's warfare, which are only visible to us to remind us of our former danger and of our great deliverance. “Sin shall not have dominion over you”(Romans 6:14). Jesus has made an end of it and put it away forever. The destructions of the enemy have come to an end.

요절 : "거기서 저가 화살과 방패와 칼과 전쟁을 깨치시도다."(시76:3)
십자가에서 "다 이루었다."(주1)라고 하신, 우리 구속주의 거룩한 외침은 주님의 백성의 모든 원수들에 대한 장례식의 종소리였습니다. 그것은 화살과 방패와 칼과 전쟁의 깨짐(파괴)을 의미합니다.
골고다의 영웅(예수님)은 그의 십자가를 모루(주2)로 사용하고 그의 고통을 망치로 사용하셨습니다.
주님은 저 독을 바른 화살들인 죄의 이은 다발들을 파괴하셨습니다.
주님은 우리에 대한 모든 고발을 짓 밟으셨고 모든 고소를 파괴시켰습니다. 악마의 투창들을 조각 조각으로 부수시고, 지옥의 방패들을 옹기장이의 그릇들 같이 부수어 버렸습니다.(주3)
예수님은 사탄의 능력의 무서운 칼을 지옥의 장인(匠人)이 만든 칼집에서 뽑아서, 어떤 사람이 마른 나무를 꺾은 것처럼, 자기의 무릎을 쳐서 그 칼을 딱하고 꺾었습니다. 우리의 죄의 형벌은 그리스도께서 담당하셨습니다. 우리의 복된 대속 자(예수 그리스도)에 의하여 우리의 모든 불법(죄)은 완전히 속죄가 이루어 졌습니다.
"누가 우리를 송사하리오? 누가 우리를 정죄하리오? 죽으실 뿐 아니라 다시 살아나신 이는 그리스도이십니다."(롬8:34)
예수께서는 지옥의 전통(화살 통)을 비우셨습니다. 모든 불 투창도 꺼버렸습니다. 그리고 모든 격노의 화살머리를 꺾어 버렸습니다. 땅엔 지옥의 전쟁무기들의 동강(부셔진 조각)들이 흩어져 있고, 그 동강들은 다만 이전의 위험과 우리의 위대한 구원을 우리로 하여금 기억하게 하기 위하여 우리에게 보일 뿐입니다.
"죄가 너희를 주관하지 못하리니"(롬6:14)
예수님은 죄의 종말을 만들었고, 그것을 영원히 물리치셨습니다.
원수들의 파괴는 끝장 났습니다.
