죄에게 종노릇 하지 말라( 롬 6:6) |

Evening
"That henceforth we should not serve sin"(Romans 6:6).
Christian, what have you to do with sin? Has it not cost you enough already? Burnt child, will you continue to play with fire? When you have already been between the jaws of the lion, will you step into his den a second time? Have you not had enough of the old serpent? He poisoned you once. Will you play near the hole of the viper and put your hand upon the cobra's den a second time? Oh, do not be so foolish! Did sin ever give you any real pleasure? Did you find solid satisfaction in it? If so, go back to your old drudgery and wear the chain again. But sin never did give you what it promised to bestow. Rather, it deluded you with lies. Do not be snared again. Be free and let the remembrance of your ancient bondage forbid you to enter the net again. Sin is contrary to the designs of eternal love. God desires your purity and holiness. Do not oppose the purposes of your Lord. Christians can never sin cheaply. Transgression destroys peace of mind, obscures fellowship with Jesus, hinders prayer, and brings darkness over the soul. Therefore, do not be the slave of sin. Each time you serve sin, you "crucify... the Son of God afresh, and put Him to an open shame"(Hebews 6:6). Can you bear that thought? If you have fallen into any sin during this day, the Master has sent this admonition this evening to bring you back before you have backslidden very far. Turn to Jesus anew. He has not forgotten His love for you. His grace is still the same. With weeping and repentance, come to His footstool. You will be received once more into His heart.

○ 요절: "우리가 알거니와 우리 옛 사람이 예수와 함께 십자가에 못 박힌 것은 죄의 몸이 멸하여 다시는 우리가 죄에게 종노릇 하지 아니하려 함이니."(롬 6:6)
그리스도인이여, 그대는 죄와 어떤 관계가 있습니까? 그대는 이미 충분히 비용(대가)을 지불하지 않았습니까? 불에 덴 아이여, 그대는 불장난을 계속할 것입니까? 그대는 이미 사자의 턱들(입) 사이에 들어갔었는데도(들어가 본적이 있는데도) 두 번 그 굴로 들어갈 작정입니까? 그대는 옛 뱀을 충분히 겪어보지 않았습니까? 그는 예전에 그대에게 독을 넣었습니다(즉 그대를 타락시켰습니다). 그런데도 그대는 독사의 굴 옆에서 놀며 또다시 코브라(인도 독사)의 굴에 그대의 손을 넣겠습니까?
오, 그런 바보가 되지 마십시오! 이제까지 죄가 그대에게 진정한 기쁨을 준 적이 있습니까? 그대는 그안에서 충실한 만족을 발견했습니까? 만일 그렇다면, 그대의 과거의 고역(苦役)으로 돌아가십시오. 그리고 다시 쇠사슬을 차십시오. 그러나 죄는 그것이 주기로 약속했던 것을 결코 그대에게 주지 않았습니다. 오히려 죄는 그대를 거짓말로 속였습니다. 다시 덫에 걸리지 마십시오. 자유하십시오. 그대의 과거의 속박의 기억이 다시는 그 그물(덫)에 들어가지 않게 하십시오. 죄는 영원한 사랑의 계획에 반대됩니다. 하나님은 그대의 순결과 거룩함을 요망하십니다. 그대의 주님의 뜻에 거역하지 마십시오.
그리스도인들은 결코 값싸게 죄를 지을 수 없습니다(즉 쉽게 죄를 짓지 말아야 합니다). 죄는 마음의 평안을 파괴하고, 예수님과의 교제를 흐리게 하고, 기도를 방해하고, 영혼위에 어둠을 가져옵니다. 그러므로 죄의 종이 되지 마십시오. 그대가 죄의 종노릇할 때마다, 그대는 "하나님의 아들을 다시 십자가에 못 박아 현저히 욕을 보입니다."(히 6:6) 그대는 그런 생각을 품을 수 있겠습니까?
만일 그대가 오늘 하루 동안 어떤 죄를 범했다면, 주님께서는 그대가 너무 멀리 타락하기 전에 그대를 되부르시기 위하여(도로 찾기 위하여) 오늘 저녁 이 훈계를 보내셨습니다. 다시 예수께로 돌아오십시오.
그분은 그대에 대한 그분의 사랑을 잊지 않으셨습니다. 그분의 은혜는 여전히 똑같습니다. 울음과 회개를 갖고(울면서 그리고 회개하면서) 주님의 발등상으로 오십시오. 그러면 그대는 다시 한 번 더 주님의 가슴안에 받아질 것입니다.
