Evening
"And the Lord shall guide thee continually"(Isaiah 58:11).
"The Lord shall guide thee." Not an angel, but Jehovah will guide you. He said that an angel would go before His people to lead them through the wilderness. Moses said, "If thy presence go not with me, carry us not up hence"(Exodus 33:15). The Father Himself leads you through your earthly journey. You may not see the cloud or the fiery pillar, but Jehovah will never forsake you. Notice the word shall - "The Lord shall guide thee." How sure we can be that God will not forsake us! His precious shalls and wills are better than men's promises. "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee"(Hebrews 13:5). We are not merely to be guided sometimes, but we have a perpetual Leader. We are to continually hear the guiding voice of the Great Shepherd. If we follow close beside Him, we will be led in the right way. If you have to change your position in life; if you have to emigrate to distant shores; if you are cast into poverty or suddenly promoted to a more responsible position; if you are thrown among strangers or cast among foes, do not fear, for "the Lord shall guide thee continually." There are no difficulties out of which you will not be delivered if you live near to God, and your heart is kept warm with holy love. Walk with God, and you cannot lose your way. You have infallible wisdom to direct you, unchanging love to comfort you, and eternal power to defend you.
