63. 성경의 특성
성경은 세가지 기적을 갖고 있는 책이다. 이 세가지 기적이 성경을 세계의 모든 책들과 차별성을 주고 또 성경이 평범하지 않음을 변증하고 있다.
(Three miracles distinguish it form all the books of the world and defend it against ordinariness.)
1. 세가지의 기적
(1) 영감의 기적
첫째로, 영감의 기적이 있다. 즉 성경을 하나님의 계시의 기록으로 만든 성경의 저자들의 마음과 생각에 계셨든 하나님의 성령의 역사이다. 그러므로 성경은 시초부터(처음 쓰여질 때) 하나님의 책이다.(하나님이 저자이시다.) 그 안에는 하나님의 마음이 있고, 구원의 길이 있고, 시간과 영원에 걸쳐서 인간을 위하여 계시하신 하나님의 플랜(계획)이 있다. 성경은 그 시작(저작)을 하나님이 하셨다.
(There is, first, the miracle of INSPIRATION: that work of the Spirit of God in the hearts and minds of the Scripture writers which made their writings a record of divine revelation. That book is God-breathed! Form its inception it was divine. In it is the mind of God, the way of salvation, and the revealed plan of God for man for time and eternity. It is divine in its initiation.)
(2) 보존의 기적
둘째로, 성경의 본래의 메시지의 영구성과 보호를 보증하는 역사, 즉 성경의 원본자체와 마찬가지로 성경번역자들의 마음과 생각과 손들을 붙드신 하나님의 성령의 역사이다.
번역과 개역(改譯)의 위험들, 변화하는 시대와 변화하는 문화를 거치면서도 첫 번째의 저자들에게 영감을 넣었던 그 같은 성령께서 속임과 오류에 대하여 원본을 보존해 오셨다. 그렇게 성령께서 기적적으로 역사하셨기 때문에 성경은 수 천년 세월동안의 위험한 번역을 거치면서도 그 영향력(하나님의 능력)과 그 의미(내용)를 간직해 왔다. 하나님은 그의 말씀의 보호를 사람들의 손에만 맡겨 두시지 않으셨다. 하나님이 성경의 계속성(보존성)을 지키신다.
(There is, second, the miracle of PRESERVATION : that work of the spirit of God upon the hearts, minds, and hands of the Scripture translators, as well as upon the Scripture text itself, which guaranteed the perpetuation and protection of the original message of the Bible. Through the perils of translation and retranslation changing times and cultures, the same Holy Spirit who breathed the original message to the first writers has been present to protect the text against deceit and error. So miraculously did the Holy Spirit work that the Bible has retained its impact and intent through hundreds of perilous years of translation. God did not leave the care of his Word to the hands of men alone. It is divine in its continuation.)
(3) 조명(照明)의 기적
마지막으로 말씀을 전하는 설교자들과 교사들과 말씀을 배우는 학생들의 마음과 생각과 삶을 인도하시는 하나님의 성령의 역사, 즉 성경의 메시지의 내적의미를 계시하시는 역사이다. 이것은 작은 기적이 아니다.(이것은 큰 기적이다.) 성경 저자들의 마음에 말씀을 불어 넣으시고 그 영구성을 주재해 오신 같은 성령께서 생명(삶)을 변화시키는 그의 진리를 계시하시기 위하여 설교자들, 교사들과 학생들을 운전하신다.(인도하신다.) 하나님은 성경의 의미의 전달도 주관하신다.
(There is, finally, the miracle of ILLUMINATION: that work of the Spirit of God upon the heart, mind, and life of the preacher, the teacher, and the student of the Word which discloses the inner meaning of the message of the Bible, No little miracle this! The same Holy Spirit which breathed the Word into the hearts of the writers and presided over its perpetuation now moves upon the preacher, teacher, and student to reveal its life-changing truths. It is divine in its communication.)
2. 역설의 진리(Paradoxical truths)
지금 그대는 기적의 존재에 관하여 만질 수 있는 유형적(물질적)증거를 갖고 있다.(이 뜻은 그리스도인이 기적의 책인 성경을 갖고 있다는 뜻이다.) 그대는 그대의 손 안에 기적(성경을 의미함)을 갖고 있다. 성경은 그 시작과 그 계속성과 그의 조명이 다 기적이다. 성령께서는 여전히(언제나) 그의 말씀을 지키고 계시다. 그대가 성경의 기적적 성격(특성)을 의심한다면 나는 그대가 성경을 읽을 때 그대의 마음에 그 내용을 끝까지 말씀할 기회를 드릴 것을 요구한다.
그의 말씀에 관한 하나님의 영원한 의향은 예레미야 1장 12절에 계시되고 있다.
"이는 내가 내 말을 지켜 그대로 이루려 함이니라."(렘1:12)
이 책(성경)에는 하나님의 마음과 플랜이 계시되고 있다. 이 책은 모든 사람들과 모든 때를 위한 삶의 플랜이 포함되고 있다. 그리고 성경은 영원히 불변하고 영원부터 영원까지 완전하다.
(Thus, you have physical, tangible, visible proof of the existence of miracles. You are holding a miracle in your hand! The Bible is miraculous in its initiation, in its continuation, and in its illumination. The Holy Spirit still guards his Word! If you doubt its miraculous nature, I challenge you to give the Holy Spirit an opportunity to speak to your heart through its contents as you read it. God's eternal disposition regarding his Word is revealed in Jeremiah 1:12: "I will hasten my word to perform it!"
In this Book, the mind and plan of God are disclosed. It contains the plan of life for all men and all seasons and is eternal, unchanging, and complete. . . from eternity to eternity.)
인간의 모든 시스템(조직과 제도)은 무너지고 옛 것으로(역사 속으로) 사라지고 있다. 이것은 우리에게 놀라운 일이 아니다.
우리는, "이 세상도 그 정욕도 지나가되 오직 하나님의 뜻을 행하는 이는 영원히 거하느니라."(요일2:17; 참고: 벧전1:24-25)라고 말씀하신 하나님의 말씀을(성경에서)읽었다. 성경은 영원한 생명의 법을 제시하고 있다. 성경의 원리들은 현대의 이성(理性)의 사상들을 과감하게 절단하고 가장 뛰어난 우리들의 시스템의 전문가를 무시(거부)하고 이 세상의 지식계층에 의하여 오래 전에 쓸모 없다고 주장된 가치들을 칭찬한다. 성경은 이 세상이 싫어하는 것을 귀중하다고 하고 이 세상이 귀중하다고 하는 것을 거부한다.(이것이 소위 역설적 진리이다.) 그리고 이 모든 것에 관한 주목할만한 일은 세상의 주장은 이성적사고(理性的思考)에는 매우 의미가 있으나(말이 되나) 성경에는 거의 무의미하다.(성경에서는 맞지 않는다.) 세상의 사고에서 보면 성경은 허무 맹랑(얼토당토 않은 것) 한 것 같고 불합리한 것같아서 성경의 주장(말씀)은 비정상적이다. 나(J.R.Taylor)는 이것을 논할 수 없다.(논의를 피하겠다.) 그러나 이 세상의 이론적 추론이 매우 그럴 듯 한 것같지만(말이 되는 것같지만) 그들은 효력이 없다. 이 세상은 무너져 내리고 그 시스템들은 실패하고 있도다!
[The systems of man are collapsing and passing into antiquity. This should be no surprise to us. We have read the divine utterance which says, "And the world is passing away with its desires; but he that does the will of God abides forever" (I John2:17)
The Bible presents the rules of eternal life. Its principles dare to cut clean across the lines of modern reason, defy the best of our system's experts, and extol values long since claimed obsolete by this world's intelligentsia. The Bible claims things to be precious that the world abhors and abhors things which this world holds precious.
And the remarkable thing about all this is that the world's claims make so much sense to the reasoning mind and the Bible seems to make so little. In the thinking of the word, the Bible seems preposterous and absurd . . . its claims far-out! I cannot argue this. But with as much sense as the deductions of the world seem to be making, they are not working! The world is falling apart, and its systems are failing!]
인간은 그의 계획을 수선하기에 분주하다. 그러나 이 모든 노력에도 불구하고 그들은 쇠퇴하고 있다. 도대체 그들은 제대로 작용하지 않고 있다.(효력이 없다.) 그러나 나(J.R.Taylor)는 이것을 그대에게 말할 수 있다..... 나(J.R.Taylor)는 성경의 주장(말씀)들은 참으로 그 효력(능력)이 살아 있다고. 바로 이 순간에도 그들(하나님의 말씀들)은 역사하고 있다! 하나님의 말씀을 신뢰하는 신앙(믿음)을 실행하는 사람들(남녀들)의 삶 속에는 천국이 실현되고 있다.[이 말은 천국은 이 세상에서는 공간(space)이 아니고 사건(event)이라는 뜻이다.]
성경은 유효하다. 성경말씀은 불합리한 것같이 들리지만 그 주장들(성경말씀의 내용들)은 여전히 그 능력(효력)이 지속(계속)되고 있다.[그러므로 성경은 세상의 이성적 이론에 대하여는 역설적 진리(paradoxical truths)이다.(주1)]
그러므로 무시되고, 도전받고, 의심받고, 비웃음 받고, 거절되기도 하나, 그 말씀들은 여전히 그 능력을 지속하고 있는 이 성경을 나는 그대에게 권유한다.(즉 성경을 읽도록 권유한다.)
(Man is scrambling to patch up his plans but they are passing away, despite it all. They simply are not working.
But I can tell you this . . . I affirm that the claims of the Bible are working! Right at this moment they are working! In the lives of men and women who dare to demonstrate their faith in the trustworthiness of the Word of God, heaven is happening! It is working! Its claims, as absurd as they sound, are standing. So I give you this Book, the Bible . . . laughed at, challenged, doubted, scoffed at, opposed, and refused . . . but whose principles stand!)
주1, 산상수훈 - 천국의 새 법(AD.28년경)
예수께서 무리를 보시고 산에 올라가 앉으시니 제자들이 나아온지라
입을 열어 가르쳐 가라사대
심령이 가난한 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이요
애통하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 위로를 받을 것임이요
온유한 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 땅을 기업으로 받을 것임이요
의에 주리고 목마른 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 배부를 것임이요
긍휼히 여기는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 긍휼히 여김을 받을 것임이요
마음이 청결한 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님을 볼 것임이요
화평케 하는 자는 복이 있나니 저희가 하나님의 아들이라 일컬음을 받을 것임이요
의를 위하여 핍박을 받은 자는 복이 있나니 천국이 저희 것임이라
나를 인하여 너희를 욕하고 핍박하고 거짓으로 너희를 거스려 모든 악한 말을 할 때에는 너희에게 복이 있나니 기뻐하고 즐거워하라 하늘에서 너희의 상이 큼이라 너희 전에 있던 선지자들을 이같이 핍박하였느니라.(마5:1-12)
[Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them , saying:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.(Matt.5:1-12)]
