"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?" (Hebrews 1: 14).
Angels are the unseen attendants of the saints of God. They bear us up in their hands lest we dash our foot against a stone. Loyalty to their Lord leads them to take a deep interest in the children of His love. They rejoice over the return of the prodigal to his father's house below, and they welcome the advent of the believer to the King's palace above. In olden times, the sons of God were favored with their visible appearance, and at this day, although unseen by us, heaven is still opened. The angels of God ascend and descend from the Son of man that they may visit the heirs of salvation. If our eyes could be opened, we would see horses and chariots of fire about the servants of the Lord. We have come to an innumerable company of angels, who are all watchers and protectors of the royal seed. To what dignity are the chosen elevated when the brilliant courtiers of heaven become their willing servants! We are defended since all twenty thousand chariots of God are armed for our deliverance! To whom do we owe all this? Let th Lord Jesus Christ be forever endeared to us, for through Him we are made to sit in heavenly places far above principalities and powers. He it is whose camp is round about them that fear Him. He is the true Michael whose foot is on the dragon. All hail, Jesus!

요절 : "모든 천사들은 부리는 영으로서 구원 얻을 후사들을 위하여 섬기라고 보내심이 아니뇨"(히1:14)
천사들은 하나님의 성도들을 시중드는 보이지 않는 수행자(따라다니는 자)들입니다. 천사들은 우리의 발이 돌에 부딪히지 않도록 그들의 손으로 우리를 붙잡고 다닙니다.(역자주1) 천사들은 그들의 하나님에 대한 충성 때문에 하나님의 사랑하는 자녀들에게 깊은 관심을 갖고 있습니다.(즉 하나님의 종인 천사들이 하나님의 자녀들을 지극히 사랑할 것은 당연합니다.)
천사들은 이 땅에서는 그의 아버지의 집으로 돌아오는 탕자의 귀가를 축하하고, 성도가 하늘에 있는 왕의 궁전으로 들어 오는 것을 환영합니다. 옛날에는 하나님의 자녀들이 천사들의 모습을 눈으로 보는 영광을 누렸습니다. 오늘날에는 비록 우리들이 보지 못할지라도 하늘은 여전히 열려 있습니다. 하나님의 천사들이 구원의 후사들을 방문하기 위하여 인자(예수그리스도)로부터 내려오기도 하고. 성도에게서 올라가기도 합니다. (역자주2)
우리의 영안이 열린다면, 여호와의 종들의 주변에 있는 불병거와 불말을 볼 수 있을 것입니다. 우리가 이른 곳은 셀 수 없는 수 많은 천사들의 일행이 있는 곳입니다. 그들은 모두 성도들(왕의 자손들)을 지키는 자요, 보호자들입니다. 찬란한 하늘의 대신들인 천사들이 기꺼이 택함을 받은 자들(성도들)을 섬기는 종이되었다면 택함을 받은 자들은 얼마나 높은 위계(dignity)에 올라졌겠습니까!
하나님의 이만 병거들이 우리의 구출을 위해 모두 무장되고 있으므로 우리는 아주 튼튼하게 지켜지고 있습니다! 우리는 누구에게 이 모든 것을 빚지고 있습니까?(즉 우리는 누구 덕택으로 이 모든 영광을 누립니까?) 그러므로 우리는 주 예수 그리스도를 영원히 사랑해야 합니다.(즉 영원히 사랑합시다) 왜냐하면 우리는 그 분을 통해 모든 정사나 권세보다 훨씬 더 높은 천국자리에 앉게 되었기 때문입니다. 주께서 그를 두려워하는 모든 정사와 권세주위를 그의 군대로 둘러싸고 계십니다. 그리스도는 그 발을 용위에 올려놓은(밟고 있는) 참 미가엘 입니다.(역자주3) 예수님, 만세 !
