"And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost" (Acts 2: 4).
It is a rich blessing to be filled with the Holy Spirit. It would be impossible to over-estimate the consequences of this sacred filling of the soul. Life, comfort, light, purity, power, peace, and many other precious blessings are inseparable from the Spirit's presence. As sacred oil, He anoints the head of the believer, sets him apart to the priesthood of saints, and gives him grace to execute his office right. As the only truly purifying water, He cleanses us from the power of sin and sanctifies us, working in us to do the Lord's good pleasure. As the light, he manifested to us at first our lost estate. Now He reveals the Lord Jesus to us and in us and guides us in the way of righteousness. Enlightened by His pure celestial ray, we are no more darkness, but light in the Lord. He is the sacrificial flame by which we are enabled to offer our whole souls as a living sacrifice to God. As heavenly dew, He removes our barrenness and fertilizes our lives. As the dove, with wings of peaceful love, He broods over His Church and over the souls of believers. As the Comforter, He dispels the cares and doubts which mar the peace of His beloved. He descends on the chosen and bears witness to their sonship by working in them a filial spirit by which they cry, Abba, Father. As the win, He brings the breath of life to men. Blowing where He wills, He performs the quickening operations by which the spiritual creation is animated and sustained. Pray to God that we might feel His presence this day and every day.

성령으로 충만하게 되는 은혜는 아주 귀중한(풍성한) 축복입니다. 우리 영혼의 이 신성한(거룩한) 성령충만의 결과는 아무리 높이 평가해도 지나칠 수 없습니다. 생명, 위로, 빛, 순결, 능력, 평안, 그리고 다른 많은 소중한 축복들은 성령의 임재와 분리될 수 없습니다.(즉 성령의 임재 없이는 이 모든 은혜는 존재할 수 없습니다.) 거룩한 기름이신 성령은, 믿는 자의 머리에 기름을 부으시고, 또 그를 성도들의 제사장으로 성별하시고, 그가 그의 직분(제사장)을 바르게 수행할 수 있도록 하는 은혜를 주십니다. 진실로 순결케 할 수 있는 유일한 물인 성령께서는 죄의 능력으로부터 우리를 씻기시고, 우리 안에서 우리를 주님의 선하시고 기쁘신 뜻을 따라 행하도록 역사하시면서 우리를 성화(聖化)케 하십니다. 또 빛이신 성령은 먼저(처음에) 우리의 죄 중에서 길 잃은 우리의 처지(정황)를 보여 주셨습니다. 지금은 성령께서는 우리에게, 우리 안에서 주 예수님을 계시하시며 우리를 의의 길로 인도하십니다.
성령의 순결한 천국의 빛으로 밝혀진 우리는 더 이상 어둠이 아니고 주 안에 있는 빛입니다. 그리고 성령은 우리가 하나님께 산 제물로서 우리의 온 영혼들을 드릴 수 있도록 불 붙여 주시는 희생의 불이십니다.(역자주1) 하늘의 이슬이신 성령은 우리의 불모의 삶을 치우고 우리의 삶을 비옥하게 하십니다. 비들기 같은 성령은 그 화평한 날개로 그의 교회와 믿는 자들(신자들)의 영혼을 살포시(안온하게) 덮으십니다. 위로자로서의 성령은 그의 사랑하는 자들의 평강을 해치는 염려와 의심들을 쫓아 내십니다. 성령은 하나님이 택하신 자들 위에 강림하셔서 그들 안에서 같은 자녀의 영이 하나님을 아바 아버지라고 부르도록 역사하심으로서 그들이 자녀됨을 증거해 주십니다. 바람으로서의 성령은 사람들에게 생명의 호흡(숨)을 가져옵니다.(즉 성령께서 생명을 주십니다) 성령은 임의 대로(원하시는 대로) 불며 생명을 소생시키는 역사(작용)를 수행하고 있습니다. 그 역사(役事, the quickening operation)에 의하여 영적 창조물(피조물)(역자주2)에게 생명이 불어 넣어지고 지탱됩니다. 우리가 오늘은 물론 매일 그의 임재를 느낄 수 있도록 하나님께 기도하십시오.
