"The lot is cast into the lap, but the whole disposing thereof is of the Lord" (Proverbs 16: 33).
If the disposal of the lot is the Lord's whose is the arrangement of our whole life? If the simple casting of a lot is guided by Him, how much more the events of our entire life--especially when we are told by our blessed Savior, "The very hairs of your head are all numbered" (Matthew 10: 30). It would bring a holy calm over your mind, dear friend, if you were always to remember this. It would so relieve your mind from anxiety that you would be better able to walk in patience, quiet, and cheerfulness as a Christial should. When a man is anxious, he cannot pray with faith. When he is troubled about the world, he cannot serve his Master. His thoughts are of serving himself. "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" (Matthew 6: 33). You are meddling with Christ's business and neglecting your own when you fret about your circumstances. Be wise, attend to obeying, and let Christ manage the providing. Come and survey your Father's storehouse, and ask whether He will let you starve while He has laid up so great an abundance in His garner. If He remembers even sparrows, will He forget one of the least of His poor children? "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he will sustain thee. He will never suffer the righteous to be moved" (Psalm 55: 22).

만일 제비(the lot)의 작정이 여호와께 있다면(잠16:33) 우리의 전 인생의 결정(배열)은 누가 하겠습니까?(누구의 것이겠습니까.) 제비 뽑는 것같은 단순한 행위도 하나님께서 인도하신다면, 우리의 온 인생에서 일어나는 사건들이야말로 얼마나 더욱 인도하시겠습니까- 특히 우리의 복되신 주님께서는 "너희에게는 머리털까지 다 세신바 되었다"고 말씀하셨습니다.(마10:30)
사랑하는 친우여, 그대가 항상 이것을 기억하면, 그것은 그대의 마음에 거룩한 평온을 가져 올 것입니다. 그리고 그것은 그대의 마음을 염려로부터 해방시켜 인내 속에서 평온하고 유쾌하게 그리스도인이 걸어야 할 길을 더 잘 걸을 수 있게 할 것입니다. 어떤 사람이 염려하면, 그는 믿음으로 기도할 수 없게 됩니다. 또 그가 세상 일을 걱정하면, 그는 그의 주님을 섬길 수 없습니다. 그의 생각은 자신을 섬기는데 치중하게 됩니다.
